|
The Brazilian Energy Balance – BEB is a traditional document in the Brazilian energy sector, which annually divulges extensive research and accounting regarding the supply and consumption of energy in Brazil, contemplating the exploration and production of primary energy resources, their conversion into secondary forms, imports and exports, distribution and final energy consumption. One of the most complete and systemized energy data bases available in the country, BEB is a fundamental reference for any study of the Brazilian energy planning.
Published for more than 30 years by the Ministry of Mines and Energy – MME, in its 2007 edition, year 2006, EPE accomplished all the operational execution of the activities related to the elaboration of the document, supported by the Secretariat of Planning and Energy Development from MME – the Ministry of Mines and Energy, responsible for the elaboration and publication of BEB until the 2004 edition. In 2007, fulfilling the requirements of Law n° 10.847, the EPE is publishing the documents relating to the BEB in printed and online versions.
In each annual cycle, EPE improves its instruments for consolidating energy statistics, highlighting in this exercise the construction of institutional, corporative and technological tools necessary to the continuity of publication quality level, besides improving the instrument itself, an additional challenge in an environment that each day presents more complex sectorial relations, with enlargement of the agents and the covered energy sources.
